Small and wild

Small and Wild is the title of a book written by Franco Cesaro (Guerini e Associati) in which the author deals with the companies called PPMI: Small and Very Small Micro Enterprises present in large quantities in the Italian industry.
Cesaro argues that these companies often show incredible excellence and deserve to be exploited also in production contexts that are different from the Italian one.
We are really like that: small and very, very wild, and we all identify ourselves with that flame that burns inside, that "we consider a life choice, non-mandatory, but essential to be credible and obtain the expected results.".

7 METHODOLOGICAL KEYS

1.Rapid prototypingt

The «fast prototyping» paradigm allows the quick verification of the impact of new implementations with respect to the operating context and, through repeated adaptations experimented with practical use, the definition of optimum solutions in terms of user interface, processes and organizational relationships.

2.Incremental development

Incremental development enables the organization to proceed gradually and progressively in the continuous transformation towards improvement.

3.Business process management

e-Metodi is aware of the fact that their activity is configured more as an organizational consultancy than as an IT supply and adopts the BPMN Business Process Model and Notation methodology for a continuous dialogue with the organization in order to improve the process.

4. The "container" documents

Management information systems are generally integrated with document management systems.
One of e-Metodi’s key beliefs is to usefulness to overcome the limitation of simple document management to implement data interoperability systems by using embedded data “container” documents, so anticipating of decades the current interchange systems, like for example the electronic invoicing.

5. The "reverse method"

e-Metodi has over 25 years’ experience in the management consulting sector. In this field, the company uses its own methodology for the construction of improvement. This strategy is not based on the pursuit of possible results, but on the definition of concrete objectives expressed in consciously sustainable numbers.

Our core premise is the application of computer science. The data is the original, uninterpreted expressions of an event. The information is the processing of the data aimed at supporting decisions taken by the subjects who are responsible for taking them.

7. TCO reduction

In a context where cost reduction is considered as intrinsically necessary, often without considering the direct impact on efficiency, we work at reducing the Total Cost of Ownership.
The cost of our services is always repaid, sometimes up to 10x, by the newfound efficiency of the organization thanks to our intervention. In the relationships that we manage to build with our clients, we work alongside them with the result formula, or performance contracting.


3 PHASES OF INTERVENTION

The LPAC model is implemented through 3 intervention phases: a mix of management consulting, digital economy, and IT systems. These phases are simultaneously preparatory as well as self-consistent.
They are preparatory in the sense that they can be performed within the same project in succession with dependence of the second from the first and the third from the second, and so on.
We consider them self-consistent because each of these phases can be carried out individually and represent in itself a very significant value for the client’s organization.

PHASE 1 - KNOWLEDGE (AS IS)

Requisite elicitation and process design

Requisite elicitation and process design is the implementation of an intervention aimed at improving organizational processes.
This must start from the assumption that the first action generally includes the so-called "knowledge of the domain".
This is based on the fundamental consideration that to design an organizational model of the management of a company, it is necessary to know exactly how the enterprise system works.
This need, for most organizations, involves the overcoming of a so-called silos structure where there is a lack of communication, as well as integration of knowledge sharing.
Companies that operate through the development of talent must allow all employees to know the functioning of their organization.
Its full realization is the best way to get the highest level of motivation.

PHASE 2 - WILL (TO BE)

The reverse method

For this second phase, we create a methodology aimed, not at a generic improvement, but at the concretely foreseen, implemented, controlled, and improved process.
We have called this phase, the reverse method because the methodology starts from the definition of the objectives to be achieved, proceeding backwards up to the single task to be implemented.
The phases of decomposition, design, implementation, interaction, monitoring, and improvement are carried out in accordance with the agile methodologies, but are always and consistently starting from the point of arrival.
